DEADLY FLOODING HITS RHODES, GREECE AFTER INTENSE RAINFALL
Severe flooding has struck the Greek island of Rhodes after intense rainfall overwhelmed roads and drainage systems, sending fast-moving water through several communities. The flooding has turned deadly, with at least one person reported killed after a vehicle was swept away during the storm.
The powerful downpours left streets submerged, damaged vehicles, and created hazardous travel conditions across parts of the island. Emergency crews have been responding to flooded areas while authorities continue assessing damage and helping residents affected by the rapidly rising water.
Officials are urging residents and visitors to limit unnecessary travel and avoid flooded roads, underpasses, and waterways as unstable weather continues. Additional rainfall could cause further flooding in already saturated areas, keeping the risk elevated across Rhodes and other nearby parts of the Aegean region.
