MLB | BREWERS TAKE COMMANDING 2–0 NLCS LEAD AS DODGERS FACE MOUNTING PRESSURE
The Milwaukee Brewers have moved within two victories of reaching the World Series after defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers 7–4 in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series. Milwaukee overcame three separate deficits in a competitive postseason matchup, securing a 2–0 lead over the defending champions and placing Los Angeles under significant pressure heading into the next stage of the series.
Brewers catcher William Contreras delivered a decisive offensive performance, recording three hits and three runs batted in. Contreras tied the game with a solo home run in the fifth inning before driving in the go-ahead run with a sixth-inning single. Christian Yelich also contributed two RBIs as Milwaukee finished with 12 hits and capitalized on scoring opportunities throughout the contest.
Milwaukee's relief pitching proved equally important. After starting pitcher Logan Henderson departed, four Brewers relievers combined to retire the final 15 Dodgers batters in order. Los Angeles starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto struggled to contain Milwaukee's lineup, lasting just 2⅔ innings before being removed. The Brewers' ability to extend at-bats and generate timely offense helped neutralize one of the Dodgers' most important starting pitchers.
The series shifts to Los Angeles for Game 3 on Wednesday, October 14, with Milwaukee seeking to move one victory closer to the National League pennant. The Dodgers must respond at home to avoid falling behind 3–0 in the best-of-seven series. Milwaukee now controls the early direction of the championship matchup, but Los Angeles still has an opportunity to change the series through improved pitching and offensive execution.
